This Privacy Notice explains how Azania Custom Technologies (Pty) Ltd(trading as Azania Web Studio) ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you visit our website or engage our services. We act as the data controllerfor the personal data described below.

1. Personal Data We Collect

  • Identity & contact data: name, email address, company name, phone number — when you submit an inquiry or activate a project.
  • Order data: tier selected, deposit amount, and PayFast transaction reference.
  • Communications: the content of emails and support messages you send us.
  • Usage & technical data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, referring URL, and basic telemetry — collected automatically when you visit the site.

Payment card and EFT details are collected and processed directly by PayFast — we do not store card data on our systems.

2. Why We Use Your Data (Purposes & Legal Basis)

  • Provide the service (deliver projects, communicate, manage your account) — performance of a contract.
  • Process payments via PayFast — performance of a contract and legal obligation.
  • Customer support — performance of a contract and legitimate interests.
  • Security, fraud prevention, and abuse detection — legitimate interests and legal obligation.
  • Service improvement and analytics — legitimate interests.
  • Marketing communications (only if you opt in) — consent.
  • Compliance with law (tax, accounting, regulatory) — legal obligation.

3. Who We Share Data With

  • PayFast — our South African payment gateway. PayFast processes card and EFT payments on our behalf. See PayFast's Privacy Policy.
  • Hosting & infrastructure providers (e.g. our cloud backend, content delivery network) who process data on our behalf under appropriate contracts.
  • Email and communication tools used to send transactional notifications (order confirmations, onboarding briefs) and operational messages.
  • Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where necessary.
  • Authorities where required by law or to protect our rights.

We do not sell your personal data.

4. International Transfers

PayFast is a South African company and processes payment data within South Africa. Some other service providers (e.g. hosting partners) may operate outside South Africa. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses, or equivalent measures.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes set out above, comply with our legal, tax, and accounting obligations (typically 5 years from the end of the relevant financial year), or to resolve disputes. After this period, data is deleted or anonymised.

6. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law (including South Africa's POPIA and, where applicable, the EU/UK GDPR), you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Request correction of inaccurate data;
  • Request deletion of data ("right to be forgotten");
  • Restrict or object to certain processing;
  • Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format;
  • Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent);
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in South Africa: the Information Regulator).
